ABOUT US

Our History

Hutchison Inc has been in business for over 70 years. Once a small moving business it has grown to become one of the top manufacturers and distributors of livestock and equine equipment, fencing and wire products, baling supplies, and lumber and building materials. We take pride is serving farm and ranch stores, rural farm cooperatives, lumberyards, implement stores, and hardware dealers throughout rural America.

In 1952, George G. Hutchison founded Hutchison, Inc. in Manchester, Iowa as a modest independent trucking, moving and storage business. After two years, George G. Hutchison decide to try out the wholesale lumber business instead.

George G. “Buck” Hutchison III joined the company in 1963. He used his signing bonus from the Cleveland Indians to start Hutchison Western - in Denver, Colorado. This allowed the company to start distributing agriculture products through the Midwest and return with lumber to Iowa.

As the company grew, they purchased a manufacturing plant in Grinnell, IA. The plant started with hog equipment and now makes our entire line of tubular gates, panels, and feeders. Since then, Hutchison Inc. has purchased Logan Valley – a stock tank manufacturer located in Pender, NE & Hi Qual Manufacturing – where we used the machinery and equipment to make our HW Brand brown line.

Buck’s two sons have joined the company: Blake Hutchison as CEO and Heath Hutchison as President. Together, the three Hutchisons continue to operate the company with a philosophy of loyalty and service to their customers and suppliers, quality products, an independent spirit, and the successful continuation of the family operation.

Over the years the company has expanded, creating a total of five divisions: Hutchison Western; Hutchison Lumber and Building Products; HW Brand Manufacturing Company; Hutchison Transportation; and Logan Valley Manufacturing.
